Catalog It! A Guide to Cataloging School Library Materials [1-58683-197-6]
$46.95

While I never thought a book about cataloging would be my cup of tea (cataloging was the only class that ever made me actually cry as a student), this revised version of the 2002 edition is very accessible and well written and probably wouldn’t have made me cry. Information on Library of Congress subject headings and Dewey Decimal and MARC cataloging have been updated and expanded, as well as adding information on electronic cataloging. The writing is interesting and engaging. I especially like the historical context of cataloging and libraries provided at the beginning. The index allows for easy and quick reference to specific sections and topics. Plenty of examples are provided to give readers a visual reference and exercises are embedded in the text, with answers in the back of the book. MARC and other cataloging questions come up often and this resource will provide a one-stop reference to get those questions answered. This is a great tool that all schools should have. Highly Recommended.
